October 30, 2019
WASHINGTON, D.C. – At this week’s House Committee on Financial Services Markup, Representative Trey Hollingsworth (IN-09) was selected to serve on the Task Force on Artificial Intelligence (AI).
“Technology has improved the lives of Hoosiers through innovation in every sector from medicine to communications,” said Rep. Hollingsworth. “On the Financial Services Committee, I’ve been focused on how financial innovation and AI technologies can allow communities and small businesses in Indiana to access the financial industry.”
Before officially joining the task force, Rep. Hollingsworth has been an active member on AI and FinTech issues and how they can be used in financial services to increase access to capital, allow more Americans to be a part of our financial system, and create a regulatory framework that promotes innovation.
In June, Rep. Hollingsworth joined Rep. Cleaver (MO-05) in hosting a briefing with Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) Director Kenneth Blanco and his team to learn how the Bureau is leveraging emerging technologies in its work and encouraging collaboration between the Bureau and the private sector to combat money laundering. In July, Rep. Hollingsworth hosted a bipartisan roundtable discussion on best practices for collection, use, and protection of consumer financial data. You can read more about the roundtable here.
