REP. TREY HOLLINGSWORTH UPDATES WEBSITE TO FEATURE FLOYD COUNTY LANDMARKS
Two featured landmarks highlight some of Floyd County's wonderful history
New Albany, IN — This afternoon, Representative Trey Hollingsworth announced that he had updated the official website for Indiana's 9th Congressional District to reflect imagery from Floyd County. Previously, two bridges that connect Clark County to Louisville, KY were featured. The new District-specific imagery is of the Culbertson Mansion and the Scribner House.
"I recently had the opportunity to tour the Culbertson Mansion, and I was amazed at the story of this beautiful piece of architecture," said Rep. Trey Hollingsworth. "It is extremely important that we take moments to experience our local history and pass those stories down from generation to generation."
Built in 1867, the Culbertson Mansion has served as a private residence, a meeting hall for the American Legion, and a fixture of the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites. Additionally, the Culbertson Mansion has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1974. The Scribner House is the oldest building in New Albany and was built by Joel Scribner, one of the city's founders. It remained in their family until 1917 when it was purchased by a chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
