Hoosiers,

They make up the beloved storefronts of Main Streets across the country. We tell stories about them when we're away from home. We sip coffee and pick up our newspaper there. We gather for Sunday night dinners there.

This week is National Small Business Week, a week to recognize the contributions of America's entrepreneurs and small business owners across the country. From manufacturing to serving coffee to farming, our local businesses and the women and men who run them work tirelessly to grow their businesses and ideas, contribute to our local economies, and hire Hoosiers.

In Congress, I'm committed to supporting legislation that allows start-ups and growing businesses to access the resources and capital they need to grow and even compete on a national scale. Check out a few recent visits below to some businesses you'll recognize:

Crawford County Tourism. Sharon at the Crawford County Tourism & Welcome Center works hard to share all that Crawford County has to offer, including our local businesses, and encourage more and more tourists to spend time right here in southern Indiana.

Martinsville Candy Kitchen. Martinsville Candy Kitchen celebrated 100 years last month! We are lucky to have John and Pam, who have owned the shop for the last 15 years, and their candy canes in our community.

The Root. Father/daughter duo Mark and Brigid opened The Root in New Albany to offer a co-work space for start-ups and small companies. As a member of the House Financial Services Committee, I'm working with small start-ups like those here at The Root to ensure they have the resources they need to grow.

B&H. At B&H Electric and Supply, Greg and his team took me on a tour of the facility (one of three - their other locations are in Bloomington and Shelbyville). A great Hoosier small business, B&H repairs motors and serves the needs of local Jackson County manufacturers. Greg also works hard to provide skills training to help his employees grow and be successful in a high-paid, high-skilled career right in Seymour.

To stay updated on where I am and what I'm doing to support our local small businesses, be sure to like my Facebook page and follow me on Instagram. I look forward to connecting!
