From GRACE House to the Lincoln Hills Development Corporation, I met with Hoosiers from a range of fields and backgrounds in Crawford County last week. Check out some visits below:
Prevent Child Abuse Indiana. Prevent Child Abuse Indiana is dedicated to preventing child abuse across the state, increasing awareness of the this issue, and advocating for children who are victims of abuse. I was honored to join last week's Prevent Child Abuse Council Event to discuss how we can empower those who dedicate their time to the safety of our children.
Crawford County Sheriff. The Crawford County Sheriff's Department works around the clock to keep our community safe and fight the drug epidemic that neighborhoods across Indiana continue to face. At the jail, they hold substance abuse classes and provide recovery services and GED programs so inmates can serve their time, get clean, and have a second chance at a productive and fulfilling life.
Crawford County High School. I spoke to Crawford County High School's senior class about issues ranging from government reform to the importance of funding our military.
GRACE House. GRACE: Giving Recovery a Chance Everyday. As they work to get back on their feet, The GRACE House in Crawford County offers a place for former incarcerated drug addicts to live, find support, and work toward a second chance at a productive and meaningful life. The GRACE program and its hardworking volunteers don't stop here. They have set up programs in the local jail, like high school equivalency classes, to ensure that those who are in jail can serve their time, get clean, and have the resources and tools they need to turn their lives around. Thank you for working hard everyday to fight the drug epidemic and make an incredible difference in the lives of others.
Crawford County Tourism. Sharon at the Crawford County Tourism & Welcome Center works hard to share all that Crawford County has to offer and encourage more and more tourists to spend time right here in southern Indiana.
Lincoln Hills Development Corporation. The Lincoln Hills Development Corporation is doing tremendous work to address the affordable housing crisis, particularly in rural communities like ours. They're fighting for seniors, those with disabilities, and families struggling to make ends meet to have stable homes where they can build their lives.
