TREY HOLLINGSWORTH SUPPORTS "CLEAN" HOUSE RULES PACKAGE
Hollingsworth applauds his colleagues for leaning towards transparency
Washington, D.C. — Prior to this afternoon's vote on the House Rules Package, the House Republican Conference removed an amendment that would have made reforms to the Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE). Representative Trey Hollingsworth voted in favor of the package once the OCE changes were removed. Representative Hollingsworth released the following statement in response to this change:
"I appreciate the numerous constituents of Indiana's 9th Congressional District who contacted our office this morning to express their displeasure with this rule - it was great to hear from so many engaged Hoosiers on day one. I voted for the House Rules Package only after the proposal to alter the Office of Congressional Ethics was removed. While I truly believe that all ideas are worthy of debate and discussion, the House must always operate with complete transparency and openness. I have faith that the bi-partisan Ethics Committee, under the leadership of fellow Hoosier, Representative Susan Brooks, will operate within the highest ethical standards of this Chamber to ensure that the people's trust is kept."
