Hoosiers,

Tonight, the House of Representatives passed 14 bills to ensure our country is providing our veterans with the care and treatment they have earned in service to this country. Below are a few highlights:

VA Billing Accountability Act (H.R. 1972)

  • Veterans should not be financially penalized for the VA's mistakes. This bill would bring accountability to the VA's billing practices to ensure that veterans are not charged for a mistake made by the VA.

Military SAVE Act (H.R. 3642)

  • We have a duty to care for veterans suffering from the invisible wounds of war. This bill would create a pilot program for military sexual trauma survivors to access care at community facilities.

Homeless Veterans' Reintegration Programs Reauthorization Act (H.R. 4451)

  • Currently, veterans who have housing through the HUD-VASH program are being denied access to the VA's Homeless Veteran Reintegration Program, a job training and placement program. This legislation would clarify that veterans participating in the HUD-VASH program are eligible for the Homeless Veteran Reintegration Program.

Servicemembers Improved Transition through Reforms for Ensuring Progress Act (H.R. 4830)

  • Schools which don't receive a timely payment of GI Bill funds from the VA may impose a penalty on the enrolled student. The SIT-REP Act would prohibit schools from penalizing students for late payment from the VA.

Veterans' Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act (H.R. 4958)

  • This legislation would increase the rates of compensation for veterans with service-connected disabilities who rely on the benefits they receive from the VA to make ends meet.

Improving Oversight of Women Veterans' Care Act (H.R. 4334)

  • As we strive to provide high-quality care to our nation's heroes, we must also care for the specific needs of female veterans. This legislation would require the VA to submit an annual report to Congress on access to services needed by our female heroes.
For those who have dedicated their lives to serving their country, we must ensure the VA works for them. Thank you for your service.
