At the end of last year, President Donald Trump signed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act into law. Since its passage, Hoosier families have already seen bigger paychecks and bonuses and are now able to keep more of their hard-earned dollars to reinvest in their homes, businesses, employees, and communities. Head to my Facebook page to read tax reform stories directly from Indiana's Ninth District.

This week, the House of Representatives is considering important legislation to streamline the tax filing process and ensure the IRS is putting Hoosiers first. Take a look at a few highlights:

  • Taxpayer First Act (H.R. 5444) - This legislation takes the biggest and boldest step in 20 years to redesign the IRS to put the taxpayer first by updating and modernizing its technology to increase efficiency, enhance its ability to combat cyber crimes, and encourage the use of common-sense customer service features.

  • 21st Century IRS Act (H.R. 5445) - All too often, Americans, especially seniors, are targets of identity theft by scammers pretending to be the IRS. This legislation fosters a partnership with both public and private stakeholders aimed at combating identity theft tax refund fraud
Today on Tax Day, and every day, I am committed to ensuring the IRS and our tax code are serving you, not the other way around.

P.S. I joined Mike Glass on WGCL Bloomington radio this morning to talk about the benefits of tax reform that Hoosier families and businesses have seen. Click here or below to listen in!
