WASHINGTON, D.C. – Representative Trey Hollingsworth (IN-09) invites all high school students who are residents of Indiana’s Ninth Congressional District to enter the 2018 Congressional Art Competition. The winner will have his/her artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol for the next year.
“Whenever I take Hoosiers on tours of the Capitol, I always stop and point out the Hoosier artwork,” said Representative Trey Hollingsworth. “This art represents our community in our nation’s capital and serves as an incredible opportunity to show the rest of the country what Indiana is all about!”
Students may submit their original, two-dimensional artwork to Representative Hollingsworth’s district offices in Jeffersonville or Greenwood for the contest. Local leaders and artists from across the District will judge the competition. The judges’ scores will be worth 80% of the overall score with the number of “Likes” each submission receives on Facebook representing the other 20%.
To be considered in the competition, students must hand-deliver or mail their entries along with typed student release forms to Representative Hollingsworth’s Jeffersonville or Greenwood offices no later than 5:00pm on Wednesday, April 11. This year’s artwork theme is ‘Traditions.’
