Hoosiers,
It has been a busy week, both in Indiana meeting with Hoosiers, and in D.C. working and voting on legislation. Throughout the week, whether you contacted me via email, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or over the phone, please know that your thoughts and feedback are essential to me as I work to represent Hoosiers in Congress. Below are a few highlights from the week that I wanted to share with you:
Caring for our seniors. At Otterbein Franklin SeniorLife Community, I toured the independent and assisted living facility and discussed the renovations made and the strides taken to accommodate over 500 senior residents.
Hoosiers advocating on the Hill. Mitch, a Hoosier athlete in the Special Olympics, and Michael, of the Indiana Special Olympics, visited my office as part of their mission to share the stories of Special Olympians across the country. Here, Mitch and Michael are standing in front of Lew Wallace, one of Indiana's statues in the U.S. Capitol!
Manufacturing jobs in Franklin. At Pridgeon and Clay, a facility in Franklin that provides parts for F-Series pick-up trucks, Toyotas, Chryslers, and semi-trucks, we discussed the hiring challenges they are facing as they grow.
Groundbreaking in Greenwood. Southland Community Church recently celebrated big changes ahead as they work to further redevelop their building into a bigger, better functioning church for their over 400-member congregation. Southland Community Church serves our community in other ways as well, including its incredible program called Charlene's Angels, which offers educational services to developmentally-challenged adults.
Spending time with the Secretary. Indiana Secretary of State Connie Lawson stopped by my office while she was in D.C. to discuss how we can do more to ensure Hoosier voices are heard through their elected officials. |
