Meet Chris, a U.S. Army veteran from Nashville, IN. While filing a claim with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Chris ran into bureaucratic delays and was having trouble making any headway with the federal government.
To seek help, Chris called your Congressional office in Jeffersonville, where our casework team is located, to see if we could get this matter resolved. The casework team was able to help Chris file his claim and receive the benefits he was due. Our casework team is here to help you navigate the red tape of the federal bureaucracy and ensure that our government is working for you.
Hear it in Chris’s words: "This past fall I had reached out to the office of Trey Hollingsworth for help with my VA claim…Soon after reaching out I received a letter in the mail from the district 9 office in regards to my request. The letter stated his office had reached out to the VA for resolution of my claim and also stated that they would ensure I would receive any benefits I was due.
Believe it or not, two days later I had received all of my backpay from five years prior when I had originally filed my claim. The VA had processed my paperwork that was being stalled due to the overwhelming amount of veterans reaching out for help. Not only did my district 9 representative keep me informed on the status of my request throughout the whole thing, I also received two follow up phone calls after the situation had been resolved. I felt very humbled that someone such as Mr. Hollingsworth would take such an interest in someone such as myself.
To my surprise a few weeks ago my congressman himself called my cell phone! The conversation was short but meant the world to me that day. The one thing he did say, (twice) to me that really stood out was he wanted me to reach out to any veteran that I knew in my area to contact his office for help in any situation they are experiencing hardships. In the world we live in currently having a representative that works tirelessly day in and day out to speak and act for the whole of our district means a great deal."
Serving you is my most important job as your representative. If you or anyone you know is having trouble navigating the VA, Social Security Administration, IRS, or any other federal agencies, do not hesitate to give me a call at 812-288-3999. I’m here to work for you.
