Thank you for your interest in the United States Service Academies. As your Representative to Congress, I have the distinct honor and privilege of nominating a limited number of young adults to four of the five U.S. Service Academies. The nomination process is highly competitive. Each Member of Congress may nominate up to ten individuals for each vacant academy slot allotted to Indiana’s 9th District.
United States Service Academies
The United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point, NY
The United States Naval Academy (USNA) at Annapolis, MD
The United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) at Colorado Springs, CO
The United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) at Kings Point, NY
The United States Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) at New London, CT*
*Please note that the United States Coast Guard Academy does not require a congressional nomination for appointment.*
All Candidates applying for a congressional nomination must meet the following eligibility requirements as of July 1st of the year of admission to an Academy.
Each Academy can further specify academic, physical, and leadership requirements for admission.
- Be a U.S. Citizen and legal resident of the 9th Congressional District of the state of Indiana;
- Be at least 17 years of age and not yet 23 years of age (25 years of age for USMMA);
- Be unmarried and without any legal obligations to support children or other dependents.

For those seeking to enter a U.S. Service Academy 2021-2022 academic year the deadline to submit a completed application packet is October 1, 2020. Submit completed packets electronically to: Jonathan.Pearce@mail.house.gov.
Please note you must also apply directly to the United States Services Academies in addition to applying for a nomination through the office of Indiana’s 9th District.
